Dumpster rentals aren’t just for contractors, as you may believe; and that couldn’t be further from the truth. Homeowners can also benefit from renting a dumpster!
Many household projects involve a lot of debris, such as landscaping and remodeling. Where will you put it all? Those items can be bagged and hauled out to the curb, where your waste management company will pick them up. However, who wants to deal with lugging heavy and awkward bags and bagging up tons of junk? In addition, when all that trash is waiting for pickup, it won’t look pretty!
When it comes to getting rid of large amounts of debris, what is the best option? The answer is, of course, to rent a dumpster!
So what projects should you consider renting one for? Here are seven suggestions…
Renovations and Remodels
Renting a dumpster is a good idea if you’re remodeling your bathroom, cutting down your kitchen, or adding a new room to your house. In these types of projects, a lot of bulky and heavy waste is generated: carpeting, appliances, countertops, cabinets, sheetrock… With a dumpster on hand, you won’t have to worry about where to dispose of it. Don’t be afraid to toss it into the dumpster, and the company you rented it from will take care of it for you!
Cleanups of major importance
Before clearing out your basement, attic, or any other room in your house that has been used as a storage facility, rent a dumpster. It can be used to toss out old furniture, big boxes, and anything else you simply don’t need or want. When you have a dumpster available, your cleanup project will go much faster.
Landscape projects of a large scale
Although a simple leaf cleanup might not require a dumpster, big landscaping projects would definitely benefit from one. As an example, if you’re pulling up your lawn, removing trees and shrubs, or tearing down a deck, you’ll be glad to have a dumpster to dispose of all those items. To dispose of the debris, you won’t have to make multiple trips to and from a landfill.
Improvements to the exterior
Are you considering installing new windows? Are you considering replacing your outdated siding? Is your roof in need of replacement? Make sure you rent a dumpster before you begin making improvements to the exterior of your home. Large amounts of debris are generated during these types of projects. With a dumpster strategically placed in your yard, you won’t have to climb ladders to haul it to the curb; instead, you can just toss it right into it.
Moving out and packing up
When you move, it’s the ideal time to sort through all your belongings and decide what to keep and what to throw away. It’s likely you’ll find a lot of stuff in that “toss” pile. What are you going to do with all of it? You can have a yard sale and hope that someone will buy it, but most of the time, yard sales are a waste of time. Having to move adds to the stress of your day, so why put yourself through even more? You don’t want to move all of that junk, so rent a dumpster and get rid of it.
Roslyn Estates is a village in the Town of North Hempstead in Nassau County, on the North Shore of Long Island, in New York, United States. It is considered part of the Greater Roslyn area, which is anchored by the Incorporated Village of Roslyn. The population was 1,251 at the 2010 census.
Roslyn Estates was first developed in the early 20th Century (circa 1908) by Dean Alvord, who also developed Prospect Park South in Brooklyn and Belle Terre in Port Jefferson. It was nicknamed “The Eden of Long Island” when originally developed, due to the community’s design and setting.
In 1931, residents decided to try incorporating Roslyn Estates as a village, due to the fact that the original deed restrictions were set to expire around that time. Their efforts to incorporate were successful, and the Village of Roslyn Estates was incorporated on June 8, 1931.
In 1974, Mayor Robert D. Zucker attempted to have the boundaries of the Manhasset Park District redrawn to include the village after the district added an additional 260 parking spaces to the commuter parking fields at the Manhasset Long Island Rail Road station. Zucker stated that many Roslyn Estates residents preferred the Manhasset station over the closer Roslyn station due to the fact that service to/from Pennsylvania Station on the Port Washington Branch is direct, whereas a change at Jamaica is required on the Oyster Bay Branch. By having the district boundaries redrawn to include the village, Roslyn Estates residents would have the ability to be guaranteed a parking space at the Manhasset station for commuting to/from Manhattan. Officials from both North Hempstead and the Manhasset Park District, as well as Manhasset residents lamented the idea, given that Roslyn Estates is not part of the Greater Manhasset area, and felt that the needs of Greater Manhasset should be paramount for the Manhasset Park District. The proposal was ultimately denied.Learn more about Roslyn Estates.
